I've been thinking of getting a tattoo for a while now. But I'm worried about hating it down the road.
But, I've read about the up and coming programmable or digital tattoos. I already know of someone who has one, but I'm unaware how you actually get one now.
I'm wondering when they are going to be implemented to the point where I could like sign up and get one or something, and the costs and restrictions, and any links to sites that tell me where and how to get one, not what they are.
I've never heard of them.
But if that ever took off – as far as I'm concerned, they're not tattoos.
Tattooing is an ancient artform. All the negatives – the pain, the risk of regret – they're all part of that. And while over the years, techniques, equipment and styles may change, the essentials don't. Ink, injected into your dermis, for life (without costly removal at least). Anything else is not a tattoo.
It would be like replacing a football with a melon and the players with dogs and still calling it football. Call it what you will but if anybody sporting one of those things, if they exist, came along calling a tattoo to any of us who actually have tattoos – they would be laughed right down the street.
