PALMDALE – Three reputed white supremacists were charged Tuesday

with killing a black Palmdale man in 1997 so one of them, a woman, could

receive “lightning bolt” tattoos, a supposed badge of honor

earned by killing African-Americans.


Prosecutors said the victim, 32-year-old Howard Garfield McClendon,

was stabbed and beaten after being lured into the defendants’ car

and driven down a secluded dirt road dirt road
