Angelina Jolie is known for her roles in hits like “Tomb Raider” and “Mr and Mrs. Smith,” but she’s also known for her many tattoos; Jolie had 13 known tattoos as of 2008, according to the “Sydney Morning Herald.”
Angelina Jolie frequently covers up older tattoos with newer ones. She got a Sanskrit tattoo–which translates to “Strength of Will”–to cover a previous tattoo dedicated to former husband Billy Bob Thornton.
Some of Angelina’s most noticeable tattoos are coordinates on her upper left arm. According to USA Today, the coordinates represent the countries in which her children were born.
On the back of Jolie’s neck resides the statement: “Know your rights.” Although the exact meaning remains uncertain, it appears to be political commentary, according to EyeballSon.com.
All of Angelina Jolie’s tattoos mean something special to her, and she usually gets them during good moments in her life. For example, Angelina had an “H” tattooed on her wrist to represent one-time boyfriend Timothy Hutton and brother James Haven.
Angelina put a tattoo of “XIII” on the inside of her left forearm. She did this to show her refusal to believe in the supernatural; she wanted to show that the number thirteen is not unlucky.
